A review of clinical trials looking at the impact of red meat intake on risk factors for cardiovascular disease was published in this month’s issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Investigators found no statistically significant, nor clinically meaningful differences in blood pressure, Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and total cholesterol:HDL ratio.

Now, you might say the 0.5 serving size threshold (equivalent to about 35gs of meat per day or a little over half a pound a week) isn’t enough to do damage.

But the investigators checked for a washing out effect of lower meat consumption across included studies. They found that there was no harm threshold despite variable meat consumption, anywhere from 1-7 pounds per week.

The authors also stress the need for greater inclusion of data from clinical trials in shaping nutritional guidelines for the public.

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee bases its recommendations almost entirely on epidemiology, which doesn’t establish cause and effect.

This is a huge problem. One that you are likely a victim of. I know I was at point.

The reality is this.

The real problem, in part, is the over consumption of food that offers little or no nutritional value. If you are buying boxed and bagged food with added oils, refined flours, or sugar, that is the issue.

You don’t derive energy from food for free. The process costs vitamins and minerals. As does the process of daily maintenance and repair. Things required for the optimal expression of the individual that is yourself.

Red meat is not the issue. There certainly are contexts where health can be improved by restricting meat and protein. These cases are the exception rather than the rule.

Can you do well with no meat?

The body is incredibly resilient, adapting to whatever behavior we betray it with. Recall that many smoke, eat junkfood with impunity, sleep few hours, yet still live pretty well into old age.

If you have opted to restrict meat intake for health. Okay. But consider working with someone who can determine whether or not that is appropriate in your context at this time. We have means of answering this question.

So, after yesterday's bad news, I did it. I went and binged on McDonalds and too much tequila. 😔 Woke up today feeling absolutely disgusted with myself and feeling like crap physically and mentally. I decided not to weigh myself this morning because I knew it wouldn't be good. I'm not letting this destroy me. I had a bad day. I need to not let my emotions control my eating.
So, to keep on track, I had my sister come over today and take my before pictures. Taking the pictures was fine. I told myself I wouldn't look at them, but of course I did... and now I just want to delete them! I won't, but man it's going to be hard to see those every time I look in my photos. I always wondered how I could weigh as much as I do, because I felt like I didn't look that big. Saw these pictures and now I see it. Makes me wonder how my husband even loves me.

My Daily Ritual👌🏼😛 it's funny to me because it seems everyone needs coffee everyday or a shit ton of espresso shots to get the day going for them ......I don't do coffee never have, I don't do soda,energy drinks, and the final one I stopped would be preworkout😅 and it's not a bad thing I just don't do any of that! So I'm not hating I'm just putting me out there🙌🏽 I wake up happy as shit and that's my energy(: I workout 2-3 times a day now and average sleep of 5-6 hours! Some days I'll get 8 don't get me wrong but it's not that often. I'm not sure if I'm tired I feel it sometimes but my mindset just advances me to keep going and bettering myself day in and day out!
