I realize he was not Latino, but in light of the holiday I thought it appropriate to talk about MLKโ€™s contributions to the Latino community-- MLK is considered an inspiration for the Latinoist 1960s movements, but he also directly provided resources, public relations, and emotional support to the Latino Civil Rights Movements. MLK was a friend of Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, encouraging them to continue in their resistance. Prior to his famed โ€œI Have a Dreamโ€ speech, MLK also went to Los Angeles to rally alongside Latin Americans fighting for their own rights. Attention all you desk jockeys...and everyone else too haha. Very often people will complain of tension or tightness in their mid back region or between their shoulder blades. Because of the tug of war relationship this area has with the pecs, there is a sensation of perceived tension/tightness. There is a misconception that this area needs to be stretched out. It shouldn't be because its already "stretched". In the short term it may feel better when it is stretched, only because you're stimulating certain stretch receptors but then the area feels tight again after 10-20 minutes. In my opinion it needs activation. Get the shoulders and shoulder blades moving and you'll notice an increase in blood flow to that area, increased activation of tissue, increased neuromuscular control of that complex and decreased perceived tension. Move with intent. #movementmondays #movementmatters
