Although I didn't stick with the plan for #hhhmscrewresolutions, I got a lot of movement in my day! It was a big job wrestling the Christmas tree into plastic so it could be put in storage. Tidying, sweeping and scrubbing the floors took me an hour and a half and I worked up a good sweat! I'd planned to do the Julia workout this evening. My kids were mostly entertained or so I thought til I went downstairs and found the 2 year old without his diaper and the 1 year old...well let's just say it was a rather crappy situation. πŸ’©πŸ˜­ Preston is finally asleep and I'm going to fold laundry while Mick burns off some of the energy he gained from his afternoon nap. What a day!

My MO is moving like a high speed train, both in life and movement, trying to get There faster. But after two torn hamstrings, I was forced to slow down, and found that the juicy stuff was in the seemingly small movements, the drawn-out in-betweens. Watching this graceful creature move is one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced. She is super knowledgeable and skilled in her craft and makes sure to teach you correct alignment so you don't hurt yourself.
You don't have to be super strong to start this aerial art, it will make you stronger! Also, skill is built through practice over time, so at first, you can just use the pole like a dance partner to lean on, like I do! So much fun, come play!! Weird side note: notice the light change in the room at the end when there is a knock at the door."

The KB Swing will begin with the athlete straddling the KB, getting a full grip with both hands, and deadlifting it off the floor. Keeping the core tight and generating momentum from the hip, the athlete will then begin to swing the KB. The more force you put into the hips, the higher the KB will go. The finished rep is where the KB is all the way overhead, with the head through the makeshift window of the arms, with the elbows, hips and knees fully extended at the top.
Always remember to keep the core and glutes active during the movement.

Knee Folds from a Squat

This drill is great for opening up Hip #Mobility! I use this one nearly every single day to keep the Hip Capsule lubricated and supple.
1. Start from a Squat position. Feet flat, slightly turned out, chest up, tailbone down and tucked.
2. Shift weight to the right foot and then fold along the inside edge of your left foot.
3. The goal is to touch the folding knee to the floor but if you feel any pain or pressure in the knee come back up and just go to that point.

4. Repeat on each side for 10 reps.
Do this daily upon waking up if having strong #Flexible hips is one of your Goals this year, these are a must!

It's time to get moving with Movement Monday!! .

Focusing on the shoulders this week and thoracic mobility with some shoulder retractions

3 variations here allowing for progression.
Beginner starting in the kneeling position- less compensation. Isolate the shoulder and thoracic spine (t/s) by engaging the core and retracting the shoulders down and back. Pulling the chest forward slightly creating extension into the t/s. .
.
The TRX version using more body weight for increase challenge. Using the same technique, pull the toes to the shins to help engage the core. .
.
Lastly the advance version. You MUST be able to preform the other two variations before advancing to this. Mobility is key here, lifting the chest towards the ceiling as you anchor the shoulders down and back.
