Back in Sydney today, so was having a play. Thought I'd give these badboys a go for the first time. As to be able to train on the rings again, feels like what I can imagine a caged bear feels when being released back into the wild! 🐻😂😜 .
Happiness is...... ✌💚 Lea
Mr. Bruce Lee is always on point with his insights! Come learn a bit more about training the nervous system tomorrow morning during functional movement class @dharmamovementcompany. The vibes start at 930am. Come get a good start to your weekend.
The back roll is a movement that should be explored with care and control. The most important thing is to #ProtectYaNeck and make sure you are rolling on your shoulder and not compressing your neck or head. One thing you can do is turn your head and tuck your chin like you are trying to smell your arm pit!
If you turn your head toward the same shoulder as where your legs are going you can also see where you're going. Try to maintain spacial awareness. If your arms are on the ground when you roll, keep the palm down so you can pick things up on the way.
In this clip I am working up to a no handed back roll. This would be useful if I was holding something delicate, but it is more advanced and you should have full control over a slow regular roll without any undue pressure on your neck before trying it like this.
There's no mind body separation! Every thought affects the way you're moving and every movement affects the way you're thinking. Just go back to a time when you were excited or surprised and note your posture. I bet you weren't slouched forward, looking at the ground with your shoulders to your ears. Being mindful of your movement and thoughts is a vital step in regaining control of your mind-body. Come get mindful tomorrow morning @dharmamovementcompany. Functional Movement Class starts at 930am! #RastaPharaoh
Working to establish a better position; when it comes to handstands, I seldom emphasise the duration of the handstand, rather, I seek to feel through the various sensations to help guide me into the best possible position. Once I feel I have touched that place where all feels connected, switched on and in tact then I aim to develop longer holds. In this space concentration and focus need to be razor sharp or I just end up coming out and having to start all over again.
Mixing it up with some Bodyweight Lower body movements. Looking to move under control as I transition through each position--mindfully connecting to Glutes and breathing throughout. Nice Slow burner..(apart of a bigger circuit)
