On Thursday, i completed my first ever colonic! I've been talking about the importance of cleansing and functioning elimination systems lately, so let's not forget our digestive tract! Most people are uncomfortable at the thought of discussing bowel movements and stool health, becoming such a hidden subject. Yet it's a MAJOR part of not only our gut health, but OVERALL state of health. Healing cannot occur with a gunked up, toxic gut, right? 😷 ✨Anyway...For those unaware what this is, a colonic is administered by a colon hydrotherapist to cleanse and flush out our colon, to promote detoxification and aid the body in better absorption of water and nutrients. During the process, warm, filtered water is infused throughout the colon. Our colon's natural peristalsis kicks in and releases the water, clearing blockages with it. It's typical to feel discomfort during a colonic, especially 1st one plus level of constipation.
My experience was a bit different than most. Aside from diet and health issues, my digestion has been a major issue my entire life. In short, I do not have a typical GI tract; my large intestine (colon) is completely on my left side, misplaced, and reversed. I knew I needed a colonic for a while now but felt best I did some type of fasting prior (which I'm glad I did). My therapist was so accommodating and gentle. I was in a lot of pain during the process, struggling with cramping and felt faint. But let's just say I eliminated a lot of nasty stuff 💩🐛
as we release waste, physical AND emotional toxins are released as well. It left me feeling drained and I struggled with depression for the evening. But I KNOW this is because the brain-gut connection of depression is being stirred up and released. as discomforting as it was, I feel this is only going to further my healing and I will definitely be going back for some consecutive visits. If I could do this, you can, too, trust me!! 💪🏻
