Here's a more advanced variation of a reverse crunch with the addition of a heel tap

Perform a regular reverse crunch by holding onto a kb or bench. Begin by picking your hips off the ground and bringing your knees up to your elbows. When you lower slowly, reach your heels to the ground while keeping your lower back flat. If your low back arches then you won't get the same benefit of this drill

Do them nice and controlled for sets of 8-10 reps

I've previously spoken of the bird dog 🐶 (so named as the finish position of the traditional version resembles that of a bird hunting dog). I also rote that Masaki, Mitsuhiro et al. 2015 found that by abducting the shoulder and hip (instead of flexion and extension) increases the ratio of multifidi to erector spinae activation. I included a diagram however it's fair to say my drawing skills are sub par so I've thrown in a video this time for good measure. Key technical points are to maintain a neutral spine (most people I've seen with LBP seem to go into a lot of flexion for some reason; perhaps to reduce lever length), and to minimise (or preferably eliminate) any spinal rotation.
