We are all afraid of something. It is my hope that we all take a step back from our own fears and peer into the fears of others ; those that don't believe in the same things, those that don't look the same, talk the same, those that don't feel the same as us. Remove your own fears and assumptions and take a moment to appreciate the act of compassion. There are people today that feared poverty, losing a way of life they hoped for. There are those that fear for the lives of their children, the equitable way they should be treated. There are those that fear that the God they believe in will lead them to persecution and infringe on their freedoms . There are those that fear that they will lose the freedom to love who they love. And there are some like me who are afraid that the man I love will be called to duty over a preventable war caused by rashness. These are real fears. We all have them, they make us worry and afraid and we need to start understanding the fears that others hold. Respecting those fears and understanding that their passion, their protest, their disagreement doesn't come from hate or hypocrisy but from fear. So let's help each other hope. Learn about the topics or issues you don't understand. Be willing to learn about people you don't understand. Rid the anger and resentment and replace it with the willingness to listen.
