All of the labeled muscles (plus your brachioradialis) work in synergy. Your biceps and the long head of your triceps only act as dynamic stabilizers, which is why they have not been highlighted.

Instructions

Stand holding a dumbbell in each hand using a neutral (hammer) grip. Keeping a natural curvature of your spine, flex your hips and knees until your torso is horizontal or close to horizontal. Allow the dumbbells to hang down by your sides, with your shoulders stretching downward.

Keeping your elbows tucked in, pull the dumbbells up to the sides of your waist. Hold for a second and squeeze your back muscles. Lower the dumbbells to the starting position. Repeat.

Maintain a natural curvature of the spine. Keep your torso close to horizontal. Pull with your elbows, not with your biceps. Exhale as your pull the dumbbells; inhale as you lower them.

One possible explanation is that a compound called capsaicin — one of the principal components of chili peppers — may play a role by binding to certain receptors, which may, in turn, help protect against obesity and lead to a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Capsaicin also has anti-microbial properties that could alter the bacteria in the gut, protecting against obesity and cardiovascular disease, the researchers noted. Finally, hot red chili peppers contain numerous other nutrients, such as B vitamins, vitamin C and a compound that the body converts into vitamin A, all of which may contribute to the beneficial effects.
