Detroit native Myya D. Jones, 22-year-old Black woman, hasn’t graduated from college yet, but that didn’t stop the Michigan State University senior from running for mayor of Detroit. Myya announced her candidacy for mayor of her hometown earlier this month. “I have lots of plans for the neighborhoods,” Jones said. “I want people to be able to walk down the street and go to the park. I want to clean up our streets and make sure we have block clubs and neighborhood clubs. I want to make sure people feel a responsibility to their neighborhood. Right now those things aren’t happening.” Myya, we are supporting you! Keep doing the great work!
