Red Hawks of Montclair State
“I have wanted to be a comedian ever since I was a little kid. I remember that in the first grade my teacher asked every student in the class, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” The majority of the class responded as you’d expect, “Football player!” Or “Police Officer!” And the cliché, “Doctor!” But when the teacher called on me, I blurted out, “I want to be a chameleon!” ...instead of saying, “comedian!” I had a slight speech impediment. While, I don’t have the speech impediment anymore, the dream still remains the same.
I never really considered a career outside of the entertainment industry, so coming to Montclair State was a no brainer for me; campus is really close to New York City! I always thought I was funny, but never really knew for sure until I got on a comedy-stage for the first time, at the Broadway Comedy Club in Midtown, two years ago. I received compliments for that day’s performance from other comedians, and this motivated me to continue doing stand-up in and around NYC ever since.
I remain realistic about my career-path though; I know how difficult the entertainment industry is to get into. That’s why I’m dedicated to getting an education, so that I gain the skills necessary to get work in “the industry.” Being behind the camera is my backup, just in case I don’t make it to late-night.
My family is beyond supportive of my comedy dream. My mom, dad, and sister cheer me on and that’s enough for me to keep trucking along with this bizarre career-path. Oh and if any of you know Lorne Michaels, can you give him my headshot?” #RHOMS #RedHawkPride #LorneMichaels #ComediansOnCampus #SeizeTheDay #CarpeDiem #RedHawkLife -Harrison Browne (21) from Hackettstown, NJ

-Being 21 is cool because now I don’t have to worry about the bouncer at the bar actually being good at his job or not. Yeah, that’s a fake ID joke #GoHawks
-Ok, but seriously, who's giving Lorne Michaels my headshot?
