On the way back to New York in the dark, rainy night, after seeing and feeling the extreme difference between Donald Trump's inauguration and the anti-protest like Women's March, yet worrying about the new administration's accusation against Media for the the crowd size. It is the very worrying, since the size of the participants of Obama's inauguration 8 yeas ago, as well as that of Women's March, was several times, at least few times, bigger than that of Donald Trump inauguration. However, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Trump's inauguration was "the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period". Such fabricating tactics seriously reminds me of the time of the 1930's in Germany. Yet there is another worrying: due to the attack by the Trump regime, media themselves are also refraining from the deeper coverage. That makes democracy fall into further danger. #trump #democracyindanger #lastnightgram

In an appearance before the press on Jan. 21st, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer made several false claims, among them that, "This was the first time in our nation’s history that floor coverings have been used to protect the grass on the Mall." Well, here's my photo from Jan. 21, 2013, of Heather Deane wearing a blanket commemorating Obama's inauguration as 44th president, standing on the National Mall atop the white plastic floor coverings that were laid down to protect the grass during Obama's second inauguration. The only alternative to facts are lies, and our nation's leaders shouldn't be lying to us. #inauguration #lies #doublespeak

It's only fitting that my final Obama post is the one that means the most to me. This image was taken at the end of the Fortune Magazine shoot in North Carolina. During the shoot I kept asking Obama if I could travel with him on his plane, which he laughed at. I asked if I could get in his car with him, that was a no. I settled on photographing him walking outside and getting in his SUV. I didn't think much would be gained but you never know. I decided on a very low angle to emphasize his height and to get a clean background. Obama came right over to me, pointing his finger inches from the lens, and just as quickly jumped in his SUV and was off. There was only enough time for one frame but sometimes that's all it takes.

Aboard the campaign plane January 2008. Then Senator Obama was still a year away from becoming president. You probably don't agree with every decision his administration made, but it's hard to argue he didn't handle the job with dignity, empathy and intellectual diligence.

And for my final post from backstage at the celebration of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, on this day of remembering Dr King, I give you the emcee, the activist, the actor, the resurrector, the storyteller, the virtuoso, the torch carrier, the beautiful and brilliant Common. @RobynTwomey signing off! Behind the scenes doing big things! Happy MLK Day #Usher and #JesseJackson In 1966, Dr. King selected Jackson to head the Chicago branch of the SCLC's economic arm, Operation Breadbasket and he was promoted to national director in 1967. Operation Breadbasket had been started by the Atlanta leadership of the SCLC as a job placement agency for blacks. Under Jackson's leadership, a key goal was to encourage massive boycotts by black consumers as a means to pressure white-owned businesses to hire blacks and to purchase goods and services from black-owned firms.

Happy Martin Luther King Day. "Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
